OUR STORY
Sikh Temple of Wisconsin
Dr. Jagmeet Soin, of Chicago, Wisconsin, and Texas was a good friend of my fathers. His reputation as one of the best internists in the world precedes him all the way to India, whereby he leads another strong hospital - GNH Hospital Gurgaon with his son, and childhood friend of mine, Harkirat Singh Soin.
Dr. Soin is also a great researcher and creative, himself. His family has respectively been one of the central tenets of our faith in the Midwest and in the South.
Who is Executive Producer, Dr. Jagmeet Soin?

On August 5th, 2012, seven worshippers were gunned down at the Sikh Temple of Wisconsin (STOW) by a former US Army Sergeant turned Neo-Nazi. Our father and President, Satwant Singh Kaleka, was among the fallen. As he laid, bleeding out until his last breaths, he whispered the same mantra that many of us all will upon our passing: "Waheguru" repeatedly, and was reborn in an ascended life. The two young children of Bhai Sahib Parkash Singh, also among the fallen, witnessed our father as they walked around in shock.
Recently, the Midwest of America has been called "the land of Punjabi kings" because of how many powerful families have risen here in less than one generation. This is due to Chicago, the farmland, and the Great Lakes. Thus, it was no coincidence this domestic terrorist attack took place here. Our Kaleka (Saraow) family along with many others like the Dhaliwal, Sidhu, and Soin families have helped found many Gurudwaras here in that same short time.
Since that attack, we, my family and I, along with our parvaar have helped carry the strong message of Sikhi, unity, peace, and forgiveness to the corners of the nation. This message is starting to be received with great accolades, yet, we still find resistance NOT in the outside community, but within our own. At times, we wonder, if we're able to unite the Sikh diaspora in order to stand up for our rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness? And, at other times, we know that we can.
When Dr. Jagmeet Soin approached me to make this film, it was only days after that tragedy. We kept it in our minds and have been discussing it since then. Now, we are proud to bring this project forward. We hope you are, as well.
